hi .
i have gas and electric on a meter (prepayment) and spend about £6 a week gas and £12 a week on electric (£3 is debt per week).
the reason i have these on meters is cos i was paying £27 per month electric and £20 per month gas ,and i always ended up with a bill, and an electric debt of £150 . (hope this makes sense)
however i now shell out on average £72 per month.
i am in a position to clear the debt in february so would it pay for me to go back on direct debit??
help/advice appreciated please.
all the best,
louise
well that was ruined by lending ex oh £2450 to move out!!!!!! now estimate 21st march 2006hoping to be debt free by end of feb 2006 - fingers crossed !!

I would say yes you are definitely cheaper paying by DD than prepayment. Easiest way to find out would be to go to one of the comparison sites and enter your figures for prepayment and then choose direct debit as to how you'd prefer to pay and see what it brings up.

I did this and it said I would save about 17%.
