College Charges

First of all I'm sorry if this is in the wrong topic. Didn't really know where it belongs.

Right, my SO is at college studying "Advanced diploma in Media makeup".
We have so far paid out over £1000 in makeup related materials, make up, brushes, hair kits and the list goes on.

Her final synoptic is on the 22/3/17. Today is the 14th March. I need to attend college all day for her to use me as a model for a full body paint thingy (I don't know the technical terms in her profession) anyway, she has been informed TODAY that she must pay £80 for her clients to come in OR ELSE she won't get her final certificate. I've gone in for her many times before, and paid a couple of quid here and there but I think this is straight out taking the biscuit. We have not been informed about this cost prior to today (ever). She is 19 and her level 3 course is goverment funded. Her lecturer recently mentioned the college is run like a business, and I want to know if I'm legal responsible to pay them. If I have to, or if they can even withhold the qualification. I've tried to give you as much information as possible, although some important information might of been missed. Any help would be Grately appreciated.

PS. We are no wealthy family. Struggle to get by and £80 is a big ask with a weeks notice.
