Tax credits and pension contribution proof

Options
As I understand it tax credits takes your p60 income. However I also believe you take off pension contributions from your p60 figure if you pay into a private pension. However when hmrc see your tax credit income doesn't match your p60 income does this not raise questions from them? In which case what proof do they request of pension payments? Pension statement? Bank statement? Thx for any advice.

  • This is a non issue. If HMRC want to see proof of your pension contributions then just give them a pension statement.

I'm not sure I see any problem here, you are over-thinking things.

It probably would raise questions but as NotSuchASmugMarriedNow says providing you have proof of the payment then what is the problem?
