Amazan and Chinese sellers evading VAT

I don't think this has been previously mentioned here.
Amazon is apparently checking through Chinese sellers not charging VAT. HMRC have at last been putting on some pressure. Hopefully they are also chasing UK sellers with huge turnovers who also don't seem to bother with VAT.

I seriously doubt that this is anything to do with HMRC.
I read somewhere (Tamebay?) that Amazon are doing this because far too many Chinese sellers are shipping stuff to their warehouses and giving Amazon as the importer and/or incorrect Vat numbers.
Amazon are then being forced to contest the vat with the revenue.0 -
Amazon aren't great on invoicing anyway, they were supposed to be restructuring but I haven't heard anything about it.
It would make sense for them to charge VAT from their own account when sellers use FBA. That way they could account for all items and non VAT registered sellers would be at a disadvantage..0
