A whole month since my last update, where is the time going?

Well in the last month I have managed to get into the £9k bracket which feels like massive deal going from 5 figures to 4! I've found myself spending very little lately, thankfully. Must be all the good TV and bad weather making me stay in.

College is going well, I have my first mock test later, I'm really trying to aim high and get distinctions in my exams. I don't want to get my hopes up aiming so high but I wasn't very motivated throughout school and I feel like this is my chance to make up for that.

Slimming World also going well and I'm 1 stone 2 and a half lbs down since joining 5 weeks ago. It involves SO much time cooking from scratch though and also spending a pretty penny on food!!!

    UPDATE 17/10/17

Hands up.. slipped slightly back into putting things on my credit card here and there. I have tried my best to nip this in the bud but can't bring myself to cut up my credit cards! I really should but I think, what if there was an emergency?! (a real one not a shopping one)...

I need to do something before christmas comes and I panic spend on my credit cards.

College front - exam passed with a distinction, it feels so good to put the effort in and see the reward for it.

Slimming front - 1 stone 7.5lbs down, really struggle to shift it at this point though. I seem to be hovering at this weight and whilst its in my 'healthy' range I feel like when I hit my 2 stone off my target will be reached.

I also now have a DFD worked out which will be my target - 17th August 2018. I'm so determined to make this happen!!! Any sooner would be a bonus but I should be able to have everything paid at this point. As long as I stop the CC spends here and there...

    Well done with your exam!!

At least you recognise it and know you need to get control. The old versions of us would be spend, spend, spend without a care in the world! Me anyway.

I could have wrote that post with regards to spending, amount of debt and weight loss. We roughly have the same amount of debt and I would like to pay mine off by August before my maternity leave ends. I do have my daughters 21st, my friends hen weekend away, wedding abroad and my daughter graduation all in the first half of next year too though! Probably too ambitious but I would like to be close.

I am about 7lb off my pre pregnancy weight, I am only 5’3 so 7lb is noticeable (to me at least). What have you been doing? I generally eat well during the day, it is at night where I eat chocolate, cakes, biscuits, crisps, few glasses of wine and that’s before any takeaways at the weekend. I previously done Herbalife and Protein World shakes, but 1. I am still breastfeeding and 2. I am not mentally ready for that especially with a lack of sleep!!

I probably wouldn’t cut the cards up either if this was my emergency backup, try leaving them at home to avoid temptation when out and about? Online shopping is my downfall, because I hate shops these but online is just so so easy! xxx
    Starting debt £18,675.63
    Current debt: £5,000 (16/05/18)

    Good morning!

What a beautiful, sunny day today

It's been a minute since I've posted, I've been well and truly AWOL but don't worry not all is lost. I had a slight hiccup over Christmas, two weeks off = lots of shopping/eating/spending but it wasn't TOO bad. It could've been worse is all I'm saying..

I managed to hit my 2 stone award on the final weigh in before Christmas and have managed to keep it off. I haven't been to Slimming World in a few weeks because we need every penny we've got right now BECAUSE WE'VE BOUGHT A HOUSE :j :j :j :j

When I say bought, the valuation and homebuyers report happened yesterday so we are still waiting for our application to be approved etc etc. I have everything crossed for this, I'm such a worrier and won't relax until the keys are in our hands. I don't want to get my hopes up but this house is so perfect for us!

College going well, three exams down but have been waiting 5 weeks for the results of the last exam

I have a hen do in May in Tenerife and also my sisters birthday in September which we are celebrating in Ibiza so an expensive few months ahead. I'm so excited for some sun and girl time!!

7 months since I last posted where has the time gone?!

I'll get the bad news out of the way, credit card debt has increased since I last posted by about £2k.

Let me try and justify it :o :rotfl:

    In the past 7 months there has been;

    - 2 holidays (one for a hen do, one for a birthday..don't get me wrong had a lovely time for both but I just want a nice holiday, to a destination of our choosing with my other half)

    - Bought and moved in to our very own home

    - Paid for 2 hen do deposits for 2019 (thankfully both in the UK)

    - Completed my first year of studies with a distinction (97% - first time I have EVER succeeded in anything)

    - Started my second year of studies (now self funded, distance studying as its about a third of the price, paying in monthly installments to avoid adding to debt. Did buy a laptop for studies on my credit card though so there's £1000 of the £2k increase)

    - Closed all credit card accounts bar one. I had more than my annual salary available in credit over 4 cards and I CANNOT be trusted.

    - Bought and paid for new windows for 6 windows to the first floor of the house (we're working on upstairs first, currently living downstairs)

    - Booked a holiday to Florida in February 2019

    - Got my payrise last week to reflect my qualification acheived from my first year of studies

We have a long road ahead with the house, it's a fixer upper and is going to need a lot of money and hard work spent on it but it's totally liveable. I'm not impatient or in a massive hurry. I would rather get a feel for the house and reinstate all of its period features with our own touch.

We want to have this Florida holiday as our dream holiday before we start a family. There's been a few bumps in the road and almost 5 years ago I was told it was unlikely I'd naturally conceive so we are in the process of trying to get help. We received a referral and ended up being given the run around due to paperwork and test results being lost. Fingers crossed this time.

So the plan is to get as much paid off as possible. I feel like I'm restarting my journey but I have to remember that I'm over £6k less than where I started and we've achieved so much in that time.

I haven't posted here for a very long time. Since we moved into our house I've undone every bit of progress I had made. My debt was £6100 on 18/04/18 and now its more than double that.

I need to do some shuffling as my Barclaycard is no longer on 0% so the interest on this is eating up a lot of what I'm paying every month. I am moving around £2k of this to a 0% card soon and will sort the rest out ASAP but for now balances are looking like this..

    Barclaycard £7813.28
    MBNA £4740.85
    Very £496.57
    Next £316.64
    TOTAL £13,367.34

Time to get my head down and sort this out!
