I hope some kind person can help me with this as I am struggling to get this into my head correctly.

Will my husband qualify for severe disability premium
Will it be better for us if I apply for Carers Allowance.
Our situation is as follows:

1. Husband going to apply for Pension Credit & include me in the claim - he receives higher rate PIP Care component. I can no longer cope with working & caring for him so intended to claim Carers allowance, but keep reading things that indicate it may be better if I didn't because he would get some kind of other premiums.

2. one other question - is it the case that everyone has to pay 20 percent of their council tax - i.e. would we get help with council tax at 80 percent rather than 100 percent.

No else lives with us.

I would be grateful for any advice.

Thanks very much indeed.

You will not get the severe disability premium on pension credit as you are not in receipt of a disability benefit yourself, unless you fall under one of the exceptions conditions. Carers allowance if in payment, will be taken inoto account as income, but a carers premium would be added to the pension credit assessment,

So if I claim carers allowance - I assume there will be no carers premium added?

    Many thanks

no, if you claim Carers allowance a premium will be awarded, but if you get CA in payment, it gets taken off the Pension Credit as income.
