    Hi

    I've been looking at http://www.jewellerywebshop.co.uk/engagementring1.htm

this website seems very reasonable and genuine.

We have about £500 ish to spend on "my ring" - I'm sussing out the diamond thing and I'll decide which ring I like - I might let him have an opinon - if he is good....! (we did get engaged on my 30th B'day with a £50 lovely ring from Warren James but had a row and he got the ring back - now I want a better one and we have saved up)

But, I'm going to Belgium in May, my big brother lives there, is it worth while looking at the rings there - or is it only really for the rich people who can afford K's? I know Belgium has quite high tax on most things and usually UK is cheaper for everything.

Anyone got any advice for me?

    Thanks!!!!
    You're my wife now Dave.......

JoJoArmani - it may be worth getting in touch with Paul Slegers of Infintity Diamonds here - He's based in Antwerp, hes soley a cutting house, cutting their own stones for distribution via thier dealers around the world. But I know he's met folks that post on Pricescope (the diamond forum) to show them a selection of diamonds, and for educational purposes.

    Hi

Can anyone recommend a reputable place in london where i can get an independent appraisal of a diamond ring?

I just bought one online, and want to make sure the diamond is the same as the one described in the GIA certificate.

    Regards,

I'd just pop up to Hatton Gardens, most places there are pretty reliable.

    Hi

I went to a highstreet jewellery store at lunchtime to see how much they charge for an appriasal... £100 :S also the service takes 3wks because they need to send the ring away!

Can you remember the name of the appraisers you used in Hatton Gardens?
Did they do the appraisal for you on the spot and could you see you ring at all times? I'm a bit paranoid, that a dodgy appraiser would swap out the diamond for a cheaper one!

    Thanks.

    Afternoon all!

I'm looking to propose to my
    gf
in October when we fly to Ghana, so I've hunted around and a friend of mine bought his
    gf's
ring from http://diamonds.com mainly because of the £ being so good against the $ right now. Turned out to be a nice ring.

    http://diamonds.com/Main/DiamondDetail.aspx?lotid=14797779
To me this seems like a good price for a loose diamond - am i right to think that? How much is the tax on bringing something like this to the UK? I'm basically looking to spend no more than £1500 on the ring in total.

I can't help but wonder whether its worth trying to buy the ring when I'm actually in Ghana rather than buy just the diamond from USA.

    Any advice appreciated. xx
