Excel Parking Ticket! (Wolverhampton)

Hi,

Ive been reading through this forum and know I should ignore them but i just wanted personal reassurance on my situation.

I got a letter sent through by Excel Parking stating I had not displayed a valid parking ticket and there are two pictures of my car entering and leaving the car park. First of all i still have the ticket and secondly, these pictures are taken of me entering and exiting the car park, not when I was parked!... It says I left the car park 3 minutes over my paid for time from their timings..

They say I entered the car park at 14.37pm but on my ticket it says my time started from 14.38pm as that is when i bought my ticket!! Since when does your time start from when you enter the car park?? I could have been waiting behind other cars waiting to get in! How do they know I couldn't get a space once i had entered the car park? Just seems like an absolute joke to be honest but i wouldn't mind some assurance that I am OK to ignore any future letters from them..

Thanks in advance.

We don't say 'ignore' every time now in fact. We say appeal and then use POPLA to win it at the scammers' expense. If you don't know about POPLA just read some threads, any threads here!

Here's one from pepipoo explaining about various issues including 'no grace period' being extended by a PPC using ANPR cameras, when it is a requirement of the BPA code of Practice:

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=77445

If you can't see all the replies on that link properly, change the drop-down menu display under the options button top right of the first post on pepipoo there.

    So challenge it. :)

Come back for help at POPLA stage. Do NOT word that stage alone if you want to win this at their expense.

So basically your saying appeal and make them pay, rather than just ignoring it and letting them get away with it for free?

The letter came in my mothers name as its her car but she has emailed them appealing it for the above reasons ive stated in the first post.. unfortunately she has named me as the driver already.

Well that is no problem they will simply write to you now, challenge them when you get it, overstaying by 3 minutes is within the grace period that you should have, and if it went to popla the independent appeals it would be used amongst other things to get this won for you. We can help you in every step of the way.
When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

    That's perfect.

Now do nothing until the Notice to Driver arrives in the post, as long as she gave them your name and postal address which she needs to do in order to remove her from the loop. When it arrives keep the envelope if the postage date is different than the Notice date or if they've sent it second class (all extra ammo for the POPLA appeal which needs to be a nice, systematic demolition of their right to charge!). We can help you with your appeal wording - at POPLA stage it's crucial to get that right so you win at their expense = perfect result.

Right ok, Well they have stated that i entered at 14.37 (so they have begun my time limit from then) but my ticket started at 14.38 as I obviously had to find a space first! So how can their timings be used as reliable evidence when ive got my ticket to prove they are talking crap.

What if they took that picture of me entering and then i was in traffic or waiting for a space to come up? Which could easily take 5-10 minutes..

    So annoying. Idiots.

Have you made a mistake in the times here? Your original post said your ticket said 14:38 while the camera said 14:37 but your latest reply describes your ticket time as 14:28.

Did you have to enter your registration number into the ticket machine i.e. is the ticket you have proof that it was bought for your car?

    Sorry, edited ^^

I only put 51 in from my reg because that's what usually is required when I use any other car park in the town i live in.

Are they are charging you because they think you hadn't bought a ticket? Should you have entered your full registration number? If so that is the answer & easily defended as they have suffered no loss.

I do not know if i should have entered the whole reg number.. Maybe so, On the notice letter it says the reason is: 'Parked without displaying a valid ticket'.

Sounds like it's that which has caused the issue (we have had threads like this before and they need the whole car reg...but then the signs can't have been that clear if you didn't know this) but still WAIT for the NTK if your Mum actually gave your name and address too. If she didn't, she still can which will then generate a rubbish 'Notice to Driver' to you.
