We know we definitely had PPI but when we stopped it we must have got rid of all our records. My intention is to try one of the reclaim companies as I really don't have a clue who we had the policy with or any dates. My question is does any one have any comments about the Consumer Refund Service? We had a letter from them and on the face of it it looks as good as other companies. As we wouldn't be able to claim ourselves we are willing to pay the fee for someone else to do the search for us.

Don't use any claims company. You will need to tell them who your complaint is with and your mis sale reasons.
If you can remember that, just post it yourself.
If you can't, they can't help.0 -

And when the CMC ask you who you had it with, what do you intend to tell them?As we wouldn't be able to claim ourselves we are willing to pay the fee for someone else to do the search for us.
There are tens of thousands of companies out there that retailed PPI. Do you really think they do a search?
The top 5 lenders account for about 80% of PPI. They will just send a template to them. Why dont you do the same via resolver?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). A firm who will take around a third (plus VAT) of any redress you may be awarded and which cannot do anything you cannot do yourself and for free.My question is does any one have any comments about the Consumer Refund Service?
Claims firms have no special abilities and rely on the customer to provide the information required to make the complaint.
They are not specialist investigators, they simply put a stamp on the envelope containing your complaint.
