No -- that wouldn't make sense:

The latter isn't grammatically correct. It would have to be "sickened by".
And slamming is an external activity, while being sickened is an internal (subjective) one. So they definitely don't mean the same thing.0 -

I don't see how you are confused?. "Slamming" basically means that he is heavily criticising it and he is doing this because he is "sickened" by it.0 -
