But Equifax are probably more secure now than almost anyone..
Today maybe, but tomorrow is another day ....
Sorry, but I don't have any trust in this company at all. The fact that they were hacked in May and it has taken going on 6 months to inform those who were affected, is scandalous to say the least.0 -

I agree and the worry they have created for those affected is beyond recompense. A dreadful situation!0 -
They've let our data be compromised, so to help protect against damage from that they (a) want more of our data & (b) hope we'll blithely agree to their T&Cs.
"Jog on" is the politest response that comes to mind.Ian0 -
I would, and have, given it a miss.
It will lead to delays and problems when applying for credit in the future.
I registered with CIFAS after the Talktalk debacle.
There was a little delay when I opened an M&S current account, but if a delay puts a crook off all the better.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.
(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)0 -
I have registered with CIFAS and additionally written to my banks/credit card company alerting them to the problem. I'm already signed up with Noddle and am looking at the other companies too. Goodness me, think we could all do without this hassle!!0

Indeed, and caused by a company that most of us have actually never had any DIRECT contact with. Perhaps it is time for people to start asking banks & other suppliers who they actually use & show our distaste for their choices of "providers" by moving on.0 -
I've also alerted my banks and credit card. I've also asked for a new Debenhams card, as Debenhams Flowers, as separate but linked organisation, was hacked last year.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

I received the Equifax letter yesterday. Today I received a text from Nat West saying my account had been deactivated and to click on the link. Obviously a scam as I don't have a NatWest account. Maybe we should post any unusual activity on here to alert others.
I have had i pay purchase notices by e mail and the same Natwest phishing e mails.I went into Natwest and they didn't seem at all concerned they just advised to delete e mails.
The I-pay purchase was in Algeria !0
