From the above article .......
"No wonder the DVLA is now being inundated annually with many millions of requests for vehicle keeper data so drivers can be sent penalty tickets on often dubious grounds."
They will be happy to be inundated at £2.50 a pop
The DVLA is by far the biggest data breach organisation operating
and it's all allowed by government in support of Parking Cowboys0 -
IF £2.50 only covers costs then they should increase the charge and make money out of it. At just £10 a time they would have made a profit of over £35,000,000 last year, odds are demand would fall but I cannot see motorists worrying about that and there would still be a profit on each request.0

They can sell my details to whoever they want, as long as they give me a 60% cut. It's my data after all.0

DVLA promote the convenient fiction the £2.50 only covers costs.
Actually, there is a large profit.
The DVLA have frustrated all FOI attempts to get the true figures.
Might be worth waiting for the answer to this question

I think they've had three goes at this. Cost neutral, small surplus and a small loss per data request (which caused some howls of protest).
Hiding the truth has proved quite difficult for them! Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
