£278 is still a lot if the OP says others have gone for under £200. But you don't need to go that far for super hot in August.

Most of Spain, Malta and probably most of the southern Med area will be absolutely blazing and you might find cheaper flights to Madrid, Malaga, Granada, Seville, Malta etc?

If it's Morocco it would have to be walk, swim, walk, swim, walk. Unless it's walk swim and a verrrrrry long walk.

Why? Morocco has a coastline so it would be technically possible to swim there from the UK.

Which is the cheapest, as OP wants.

    Though not actually feasible.

Many people have swum the channel, and also apparently the straits of Gibraltar, but swimming from Cornwall across the bay of biscay and down past Portugal honestly isn't feasible.

I wouldn't go as far as to say not feasible when trans-oceanic long distance swimming is a thing, but certainly very, very difficult - and with the support team to pay for unlikely to be cheaper than even the most expensive flight!
