Oxypod false claims

come across this , had seen adverts for it before

Goodwin Development Trust is in breach of the UK Advertising Standards Code for making unproven efficacy claims for a device called the Oxypod that can be fitted to central heating systems.

The ASA investigated claims on https://www.oxypod.me that the Oxypod could reduce heating bills by up to 30%, prevent corrosion and remove dissolved air from central heating systems.

In the absence of sufficient evidence to support the claims made, the ASA concluded the claims were misleading and breached the Code.

Goodwin Development Trust provided an assurance to the ASA that they would comply with the ruling. However, the claims continued to appear on https://www.oxypod.me. The CAP Compliance team therefore contacted Goodwin Development Trust and requested their assurance that the relevant changes would be made to the website https://www.oxypod.me. Although the ASA upheld the complaint against Goodwin Development Trust, and despite repeated requests for an assurance of future compliance, Goodwin Development Trust has not removed the problematic claims from its website https://www.oxypod.me.
Because of the continued non-compliance of Goodwin Development Trust, we took the decision to place its details on this section of the ASA website on 10 May 2017. These details shall remain in place until such time as Goodwin Development Trust has removed or amended the claims on its website https://www.oxypod.me to ensure compliance with the CAP Code.

No mention of the ASA taking any legal action against Godwin Development, simply a statement saying that the warning will stay on the ASA website until GD decide to amend their claims.
Another toothless tiger by the sounds of it.

Yes, the ASA is quite toothless. Mostly a case of wrist slapping after the horse has bolted.

ASA is funded by the ad industry and has no legal sanction - but it still is relevant to newspapers and advertising agencies and embarrassment by them does help reduce further abuse. Better than nothing at all, for sure.
