Lawn edging Slate
Hi after some advice on what to use to keep the soil/grass from going over onto the slate weve put around the garden.
I was thinking about putting down some railway sleepers but i think there a little to wide and was maybe thinking about strips of timber.
Anyone else done this, would we need to treat them first?
Or would we be better off going with the thick plastic edging
I've included some old pics of the garden

Have a look at pavement edgers from a builder's yard - about £5 per 900mm long, round top, or flat top, or more for 'rope' effect.0

I used Smartedge on our lawn! Bit pricey but did the job, grass has stopped spreading, just have to pull out the occasional clover plant that spreads! https://www.greenfingers.com/product_group.asp?dept_id=200332&pg_id=31880

Thanks I ended up buying some treated planks of wood to go round the edging0

We use gravel boards...or planks of wood they work really wel,l the last lot lasted 16 years. We set ours down at soil level letting the grass blades grow over the top of the wood. This is then great to use an edger against giving a really neat look.0

Lawn edges and stone chips is a terrible idea and I come across it all the time. Its just impossible to strim a neat edge, hand shears take all day. If it's level the timber will be ok, but if there are undulations you'll be cursing!0
