How long for solicitors to get onto mortgage panel?

Very frustrated with our solicitors for house purchase at the mo.
In short, quite far down the line it transpired that our solicitors are not on the approved panel for Yorkshire Building Society. Despite this being known about for 4 weeks they still haven't got their application in. Until this s sorted, YBS wont release the mortgage offer which a currently ready to go. We are are looking to move in 5 weeks but YBS say approval can take 2-8 weeks. Has anyone been in this situation before and an advise on how it worked out for them?

You say your solicitors have had this application to fill in 4 weeks ago and still not done it.
That certainly would not fill me with confidence in terms of their ability to do their job.
Why not find another solicitor who is already on the panel and go from there?0 -
They are not linked to the estate agents are they?"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you should be expecting and planning not to be moving in 5 weeks.timbotambo wrote: »We are are looking to move in 5 weeks but YBS say approval can take 2-8 weeks.0 -
Why on earth did you choose a solicitor who is not on your lender's panel?
Mad!

Find a new solicitor.
If I was the seller I would have dropped the OP and gone for someone else by now, no searches, no mortgage offer"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Simple solution, change solicitor.
With due dilligence and accounts/financial/DPA/regulatory checks it can take up to 12 weeks to get onto a mortgage lenders solicitor panel.Life isn't about the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away. Like choking....0 -
Thanks all, have changed solicitors! My fault I guess for believing them when they said it would be a quick fix!0

My solicitor was added to the coop panel in an afternoon, no idea why it needs to take so long.0
