    OK, since this is MSE, let's just say that Elvis is following in the footsteps of Northern Rock, while the Beatles are taking inspiration from Lloyds TSB ("Whisper words of wisdom, T S B") ;)

    Magic words "UP TO" in other words, not 6%! Unless you just use FDs 6% for only 1 yr on a tiny amount (£300 PM)

    It's not really tax free is it. Technically its taxable income that has to be added to your tax return and then the personal savings allowance means you do not have to pay tax on the first £500/1000. But it's still potentially taxable.

    MSE are miss selling it with their tax free claim.

    It's the equivalent of advertising a part-time job and saying earn £11000 tax free. You wouldn't get away with advertising a job like that so why should MSE be allowed to falsely claim its tax free.

    Not sure about George, but for John I'd just observe that Midland Bank was a popular household name until a far eastern predator controversially came onto the scene and things were never the same again.... :)

    Where is 6% available ?
    I am currently earning 5% from my Nationwide (linked) Flexculsive regular saver account - but see no mention anywhere else on the page about 6%
    SENSATIONALISM AT ITS BEST ?
