tax credits childcare, 2 working parents

Hi cAn anyone help please?

I am about to start a new job full time at £22000. My partner has simultaneously been offered chance of full time job at £15500. I am doing the benefits calculators to see what we might be entitled to in tax credits especially for child care. the calculatirs (turnto us, and the hmrc one) seem to say we woildn't get any help with childcare. Is this right?

I'm just really surprised as I know childcare tax credit exists and neither job is all that well paid, I wouldn't have thought we would be over any income limit.
It does say we might get £50 child tax credit weekly which will help however I was really hoping we'd get working tax credit and childcare.

the cut off for ctc with 2 kids is about 32k
for wtc it is around 18k
could it be that the £50 a week it is suggesting is for childcare rather than ct.?

Thanks for that, I did think i'd seen every table out there but not that one. It does say we'd get 715 to 2700 annual childcare tax credits- so why didn't the calculators say that?

because it is all paid in a single claim.
you don't claim wtc, ct. and childcare separately.
you are awarded a single amount that covers all 3 payments

Because it also depends on the exact income, last years income and the actual cost of child care you pay.

The only reason you get CTC on that income is that you have the childcare element in the calculation. Without childcare £37k would be way to high to get tax credits with one child. It's the way the elements are tapered, WTC is tapered first, the WTC childcare, then CTC. So what you have left is CTC.

Thank u for explaining that the £50 would be the childcare element, it all males much more sense now.
Thank u all for helping with this. I am glad I have been able to find out all this as I did think the childcare help was more generous than it is, so we could have got ourselves in a right pickle!
Unfortunately my partner is after telling me that his job has fallen through so looks like we won't need the childcare just yet after all. Fingers crossed for next time!
