Same with my local Sainsbury's - probably so they claim to match/beat Asda's price cut, but maintain their price premium. Sainsbury's are good at that ;)

strange. up here in oldham its a different story on prices.

Asdas the cheapest with sainsburys usually on par.
    then morrisons and local garages.
all the time the dearest are tesco's.

and yet they dont know why profits are down? i'll tell you.

they have enjoyed far too many years of taking the mickey out of they customers during the good times.

now they're voting with their feet and wallets and going elsewhere!
  • Its funny how this works isnt it. Oil is under $90 a barrel, the cheapest its been in decades YET petrol and diesel is still over £1.20 a litre.

Someone somewhere is making a pretty profit!

In Hastings, East Sussex, an Esso station more or less next door to a Sainsbury's has closed for repairs. Sainsbury's has used the opportunity to increase its prices.

They are all rogues and MSE does its readers no favours by keep publicising their fatuous press releases.

i wsonder how much of this was a delayed reduction related to scottish independance. It's possible that speculators prepared for a Scottish exit from the UK which would no longer oblige it to sell oil within UK first and foremost.

Now that Scotland's future is settled it could be causing a lot of built up stock to be released to the market
