Thank you Martin and the team ...

I am one of the many that you are fighting for this refund on behalf of.

My GD assessment was completed Wed 23 July at 1pm, my report was received via email Thu 24th at 12.53pm.

I was at work until 8pm on Thu 24th, I sat down at 8.30pm to complete the voucher application to be met with the message that the fund had been shut unceremoniously at 6.30pm that very evening.

I feel cheated out of the cash as I would not have had the GD assessment done for any other reason than to apply for the financial help offered by the GDHIF.

Having just moved home at the end of May to a house that still has the original boiler from the 1970s, the GDHIF offered me an affordable way to upgrade and become more energy efficient.

I understand some might say it was clear it was for a limited time only - and I totally get that - but it was the way it was just closed down with no advance warning that is most annoying and unfair.

I also feel sorry for the many local firms, including the lovely gentleman at the firm I was going to use, who had paid out for advertising, taken on extra heating engineers to cope with the increased business and were all set for some much-welcomed extra business over the coming months. They must also be gutted at the way it has been handled.

Bring on our refunds - or reopen the fund to all the genuine customers who have either had the assessments done or who had them already booked in.

Please keep fighting for us !!

My wife and I [pensioner] did not apply in time to have a survey done so nothing actually lost financially.
The problem we have is that, as we live in a National Park, who have jumped on the bandwagon and are charging £166 for planning permission to have external insulation installed, by the time the planning process [about 8 weeks IF granted] runs it's course, we would not have qualified anyway!
Presumably this will recur should the grant be continued, even at a reduced level. So all the people requiring planning permission will constantly lose out, unless the government come up with a fair system which does not penalise at least one section of the public.
This, coupled with some companies abusing the system and claiming certificates which may never be used, means we face another winter of living in only a couple of rooms and with no hope of receiving a grant in the future.
One group have been lucky, but is this lottery fair and why should the next batch be at a lower rate anyway? I honestly do not believe that this government give a monkeys. As long as power companies pump out massive profits to shareholders they are happy.

To be fair to the gov they are never going to be able to make everybody happy and some folk will always feel as though they will miss out. This was an injection of cash which always had a time limit.

If I were you I would contact my planning office, mention the issue you have and ask if there are any other ways around this maybe contact your MP to see if you can get the charge waived until the EWI is on the walls? I deal with planning offices and they can often find workarounds ;)

Last bit don't be fooled into thinking the UK is alone with high energy prices, we have some of the lowest prices in Europe. The issue the world has is the era of cheap fuel appears to be over but no one wants to admit it.

I paid £150 for GDHIF survey in July which in itself was a challenge getting someone to come. On top of that no one accept one company according to my green deal providor was interested and even then they didnt return my calls and arrange a survey. No local company in my area, they all appear to be over 40 miles + away
