I was notified by EDF that my fix was ending. I've just initiated a switch to Ovo through the MSE cheap energy club as that worked out a bit cheaper than sticking with EDF. I would have had to nominate my new tariff with them but it would have been simple through their website.
The increase after the switch is still quite high.0 -

I'm not sure about your meaning there. My EDF annual stats were not used in their estimate of the annual cost per tariff they used something else they called "typical usage" so comparing the EDT annual projection against other companies based on my actual historic usage wasn't correct. I had to put the figures on a spreadsheet.
I may be cynical but I think they still like to make price comparisons difficult. Plus the "tariff simplification" seems to have removed discounts I used to get such as dual fuel and direct debit. They are all robbers.0 -
The big problem with Ovo is that they are not a "national" supplier.

Yes i agree no simple facts put before the customer its poor sales retention .
I worked out via unit costs based upon my usage stats .
I emailed EFD to see if they wanted to make me an offer based upon my usage before they send the sorry you are leaving email .

I've been with my current supplier Scottish power for 2 years on a fixed tarrif I did a comparison on money saving expert to find a good deal.I've signed up to a new deal only to find that Money saving expert has done the comparison on the tariff I would have been moved to after the contract ends not on the tariff I'm on now.I now don't know if I have a good deal or not. I FEEL DUPED .How do I find out quickly if I'm really on the right deal for me as I have a 14 day cooling off period ?0

You compare the prices on what you use not based on how much you'll save. Put in your consumption in kwh and then look at how much it's going to cost you. You can then check the unit rates to make sure that it works out correctly (don't forget to make sure you are comparing like with like - some include VAT and others don't)
It's not hard but you do have use a bit of intelligence when using the comparison sites to check what they are doing.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
You cannot measure the current market against a tariff that is ending . Duped no the site clearly states its measured against standard tariff that you are transferred to once your fix ends .0

I use energyhelpline as you can choose which comparison you want to use and can switch between them. You also need to use more than one comparison site as they do not seem to have all the suppliers on their lists.
