I do wish the term "hike" was not so liberally used. If 3.9% is still a hike what were the other suppliers ~9% increases? I guess "hike" sounds more dramatic?
  • Are the Milliband haters also going to blame him for this rise lol? How much would it have been if he hadn't put a very bright spotlight on this most distrusted of industries, I wonder?
  • Smart meters are part of the blame, so when on the ones installed now that are too dumb that need ripping out and replacing in a few years time we can look forward to even more increases. Well done ofgem.

You mean like happens already? When meters reach the end of the life span? If only someone could invent a meter which is never going to break so will never need replacing, Is un able to be tampered with and cost just pennies to make.

Never going to happen though is it. Meters need to be periodically changed anyway!

Why hike, more like a short stroll compared with 9-10% for other suppliers. You've been told a million times not to exaggerate
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers

    :D:D:D Love this.
  • I am definately going to fix its a nobrainer. With people looking round for best rates it will (hopefully) make the market more competitive in the next few years.
There seems to be very little "control" over power companies ~ they need to put customers before shareholders.
It sounds to me like Mr.Milliband is willing to take them on so I will vote Labour next general election. It's time Joe-Public started fighting back.

To be fair to stephen0002002 this 'small' EDF rise just may be the start of at least one of the Big 6 actually competing for business in the real sense. Time will tell of course. It may just be yet another false dawn. But I do note the posters who were blaming Milliband for the other Big 6 increases have been very quiet this time. I'm no huge fan of the bloke (they chose the wrong brother after all) but the fact is what he's proposed when (not if, ukip will lose the Tories the next election and the obliterated Liberal party's supporters will hop on the Labour Bus) Labour get back in power has put a giant spotlight on the industry, caused this shower to awake from their corporate slumber and made the Big 6 think that maybe they aren't untouchable after all.
