Another 10 years of wet summers?

Britain has a higher chance of wet summers for up to the next ten years, the Met Office has predicted
The current run of wet summers began in 2007 and usually the pattern lasts for ten to 20 years. Stephen Belcher, the Head of the Met Office Hadley Centre, said there is a “glimpse” of hope that the run of wet summers could come to an end within five to ten years.
OK, it's the Met Office who've been hopeless, but maybe we should be planting bog gardens not Mediterranean herb gardens?

Celeriac, celery, beetroot and swiss chard - is the new tomato.
I suppose the answer is more polytunnels and greenhouses if we want crops that need the longer hotter summers...Sanctimonious Veggie. GYO-er. Seed Saver. Get in.0 -
Are these the same guys who promised us a BBQ summer last year?0

I'd sooner rely on a bit of seaweed than a forecast from them. Piers Corbyn is the man - check him out. He's usually spot on with his weather predictions.0

It makes you wonder why we were told to plant Mediterranean herb gardens ever. England is not in the med last time I looked
so why the weather should be forecast as such is beyond me.
The weather forecast now seems to have become news, when it used to be five minutes at the end of the proper news.0 -
To be fair , the short term weather forecast has become much better over the past years.0

They picked a good day to announce it on :doh:0

I agree, it's actually not bad at all, whereas 10 years ago it was pants. The general trend a week ahead is quite decent.I'd sooner rely on a bit of seaweed than a forecast from them. Piers Corbyn is the man - check him out. He's usually spot on with his weather predictions.
Apparently not, at least according to Wikipedia.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -

absolutely right. I bought a forecast once, just out of interest and was amazed at the accuracy. I am now a subscriber and tbh it is worth every penny, I do actually use it to plan the month ahead and am allowed to send it to 4 family members. Days out and short holidays, all have been planned wrt this
I have forward planned my allotment growing and seed sowing according to his forecasts, which are actually trends and not short term forecasts as such, they take a while to get used to. I started a thread not so long ago wrt veg growing taking the changing weather into account

I obviously cannot breach copyright but lets just say that blight plans are in place0 -
