Defrost the freezer at holiday time

Hi all,
I'm not sure if I should post this here or under utilities. Also maybe someone has suggested this before so apols if that is the case.
My freezer is approaching the stage where it needs a defrost. I also go on holiday soon. It dawned on me the that I should run down the contents of the freezer to make the defrost coincide with when I go away. That way I won't need to keep the freezer powered on while I am off enjoying myself. Its easy enough to have some food that stores in the cupboard so I have something to eat when I get back before I hoover on down to the supermarket.
Cheers.

Don't forget to prop the door open while you're away: Empty switched-off freezers get strangely reesty when they're left sealed up!:)0

Corduroy pillows are making headlines! Back home in London now after 27years wait! Duvet know it's Christmas, not original, it's a cover.0 -
Better solution - throw the freezer out and get a frost free one. Maybe not the Money Saving approach but certainly the Hassle Saving one (and possibly Cat Saving?)
I'm to register the HassleSavingExpert.com and CatSavingExpert.com domain names...0 -
You could always bait the freezer

Hi all,
Thanks for your various replies. To respond:-
* I defrosted before I went away so all was mopped up
* I don't live in a flat
* I (sadly) don't have a moggie nor any other pets
Regards,
Stevie0
