Any new boiler grants schemes still running?

Long shot I know but our boiler has just broken down and after a quick Google, it looks like the main schemes finished in January or March. Does anyone know of any still going which we may be eligible for (I'm on Carers allowance and my adult son is on ESA & DLA)?

Thanks

If you do find one let me know. Ours is over 10 years old and is costing a fortune in repair costs. We are pensioners and entitled to Pension Credit!!

I presume that you are looking for someone to give you a new heating system, fit it and that you don't want to pay for any of £3000 that it will probably cost.

Green Deal seems the thing at the moment, suggest you read the long thread at https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4430785
In theory it is designed for people like yourself who cannot afford to replace the boiler out of their own funds - though whether you would want a 25 year loan to pay it back via your electric bill is another thing...

One of our local heating engineers is still advertising £400 boiler scrappage scheme reduction, but like you I thought all that had now ended.

Thanks spenderdave, think we'll give the Green Deal a miss but will ask the engineer about the boiler scrappage. I've found the eligibility criteria for the old Warm Front grants & we wouldn't have been eligible anyway even though he's on the necessary benefits as our son is not the home owner so we'll just have to bite the bullet & go ahead because we can't be without water & heating with his condition.

If you don't mind me asking, unless I have read your post incorrectly, neither you or your son own the property? If so, why not ask the landlord. The green deal is not nearly as bad as you may have read. The costs per month would be a few pounds on the cost of the energy bill.

Maybe you should sell your Mercedes and buy a new boiler.

My boiler packed up last year and I was fortunate enough to qualify for a complete new central heating system for free. It was installed by British Gas along with two automatic smoke alarms, a carbon monoxide detector and loft insulation. I didn't have to pay anything towards it.
I don't know if this is the same kind of scheme but my local paper has been carrying an advert for what looks like the same kind of scheme. I must stress that I haven't used their services as I got my system through energy efficiency scheme but it looks similar. I don't know if it's any help but it might be worth looking, as long as common sense is applied.
The web address given in the advert is

    www.beatthatpriceuk.com

    I hope it helps someone.
