ceiling plasterboarded around wardrobes

Hello,

It's time for me to tackle my bedroom now.

The ceiling used to be covered with polystyrene tiles and this was plaster boarded over, around wardrobes.

I'm going to take out the last wardrobe today and need to sort out the hole in the ceiling.

I don't want to rip all the plasterboard down because the plaster skim is in good condition.

To me it looks like I need to make the gap a little wider, so that there are two joists above that I can screw the new plasterboard into.... but I can't just put plasterboard up as it won't be the right thickness, as the rest of the plasterboard is put up over the ceiling tiles.

Any help would be much appreciated
