double Glazing quote

Hi, I'd appreciate views on a quote for double glazing. - 1930's semi.

I have two large bay windows and a smaller bedroom window.

downstairs bay consists of 5 different windows and there are 16 sealed unites in each as follows:-
1600x500 - 2 sealed units - 2 openers
1600x500 - 2 sealed units - 2 openers
1600x500 - 2 sealed units - no openers
1600x500 - 2 sealed units - no openers
1600x2000 - 8 sealed units - no openers

Upstairs bay is identical consists of 5 different windows and there are 16 sealed unites in each as follows:-
1600x500 - 2 sealed units - 2 openers
1600x500 - 2 sealed units - 2 openers
1600x500 - 2 sealed units - no openers
1600x500 - 2 sealed units - no openers
1600x2000 - 8 sealed units - no openers

the smaller bedroom window is
1300x1100 - 4 sealed units and 2 openers

quote was £8,800 but if I decide within 48hours it would be down to £6700 - as they are quiet.

Quote is from a large firm in Romford, Essex.

any advice or opinions would be very welcome.:A

    Cheers thebaldwindowcleaner.

The quote had already come down to £5100 - when he phoned me up last night.

However I've just received a call and they have said they can do white sash on black frame - which is what we preferred - and with lead. But also they can fit a composit front door with side panel and opening top light - all for £5,600. the original quote for the door was £2500 so we had ruled it out. what do you think?

Ps As a northerner living in exile in essex I can say - it's freezing down south!
  • i would say find another quote i cannot stand companies who cannot give there best price first

If they are the firm on the Southend Road (name begins with a C) then I would avoid... windows are bolted together...
