Wow, a saving of nearly 80p per full-tank of fuel, I will join Niksan on the champagne.0

If only my local Tesco wasn't 4-5p more expensive than the Asda 10 miles away.0

Why just diesel?
Also I like how it's always the supermarkets that reduce it and THEN the big oil companies like Shell, BP, etc reduce it to match if they are near to one of the said supermarkets.0 -
Just switched from a diesel to a petrol car.
Insurance is a bit lower, so it all balances out.0 -
Well my local Tesco was still 134.9p yesterday for unleaded which it has been now for over a week.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0

I can't see the article at present, but I think I have seen before that the arguement is that diesel tends to go up in price comparative to petrol in winter and down in summer. This is due to the fact that heating oil and diesel are derived from the same type of oil, and there is more heating oil (and therefore less diesel) produced in winter to meet demand for heating oil in the colder weather. Now we are in the balmy spring season (ha!) more diesel can be produced and the cost goes down.
Petrol comes from a different part of the production process, and so production is not affected by the seasons.0 -
