LOL, typical, just as I leave Santander to go to Halifax.

Mind you, I've been very impressed with the Halifax thus far.

These are always strange statistics, whoever they rate lowest. In theory any bank with a poor customer service record should see an improvement as those dissatisfied customers leave.

I've been with Santander for over a year now and had ZERO problems... They moved my account over absolutely fine, set up all my DD's and SO's without any problems.. My local 2 branches are really friendly =/ I guess people have bad experiences but I really can't say mine has been.

Also, there is no indication in this survey about
    1. the ratio of number of customers and complaints
    2. the results of complaints
Afraid to say but this survey, like others of similar ilk, is not very meaningful because it's not comparing like with like.

I've just noticed the data is 6 months old for goodness sake. Hardly worth the pixels used on it. Is MSE trying to generate more press coverage again?
  • Are you sure you want to bank with Santander, a company who has written off debts from Spain and Central America of £15 BILLION, yet will charge you £20 if you go overdrawn.
Try asking Santander if they could recoup their money first or even sack the Management for sanctioning the loan (or did they get a Bonus). If they made the correct decisions in the first place as to if you have a loan WILL THEY REPAY (like they make sure we the general public can repay). Perhaps if you fail to repay they will write it off
    WILL THEY ---- !!!!!

  • I've not had many problems with Santander since they bought my old A&L current account, but don't use their online "Secure Messaging" if you do have one.

I've been waiting two weeks for a response to my complaint that I've not had a satisfactory response to my now month-old enquiry about transferring to a 123 Account (the "transfer" resulted in my having 2 current accounts, the response: "Yes, you can transfer your account...", "Thank you, but that's not what I asked....", silence...).

Co-incidentally the BBC reports on poor financial advice

    BBC Business News

...but we all know not to go to the banks for advice, don't we.

Santander wouldn't be the first UK bank that shuts down it's consumer investment sales organisation. I believe Halifax already have.

It's good to see that the FSA shows some muscle, if only in its dying days.

I'll say Santander's service has improved: After not being able to get anything other than a current account and an overdraft through three transitions of my bank for donkeys years, they're now offering me a 123 current account. Problem is after so long I decided that enough is enough. Or rather not enough is not enough. So my movement of funds and income away from Santander is almost complete. So I don't want it now!
