I bought a box of heart shaped cookies. We'll snuggle on the sofa and eat them watching a movie.
Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76
    Three gifts left to buy
  • There are 2 things that men really ever want, one is food and the other is sex so it's really not that difficult for women to choose a present on valentines day.

I've always gone down the route of 'just like a birthday pressie' as browneyedbazzi mentioned. This year it's a wooden-fronted photo album (as in the cover is a piece of lovely wood), and all our wedding photos printed out - he gets to pick which ones to put in and the order etc. We've only been married a year and he keeps saying 'we should make an album', so I think he'll like it.

Would love to hear more from chaps out there as to what they want though!

I'm happy receiving nothing and hoping the money saved is spent in a more practical way, such as food shopping or the next car MoT.

I know what my father demands for his birthday and Christmas - a 4 pack of his favourite beer, a packet of salted cashews and a bar of fruit and nut chocolate, then he can spend a nice relaxing evening consuming that whilst watching UK Gold. He's 50 years old for the record.
  • I got heart shaped cookies.....
  • Depends on how well you KNOW your "other half".... Men "don't DO" flowers, as they're for girls... ( every week for the first 18 mths or so, I got my man a bunch of M & S red roses, every Friday, when we began OUR time for the w-end.) He's been a Batchelor for quite a number of years and is SO "independent", I love cooking, and "worked" on his likes?dislikes, (what takeaways he told me he'd had since our last meeting) I have tried the sexy undies, which made ME feel sexy, but HE preferred them on the bedroom floor.... (blush)... A case of Fosters with a 2" red bow wrapped around was appreciated, as was Calvin Clines (personalized was HALF the shop boxed price - the magnetic box is nice, but quite useless).... REMEMBER, this is about Valentine's Day.... IF you lurrrve your other half THAT much, a gift/token/suggestion should not be an "issue".... MY plans for the 14th? I just hope to feel that same enthusiasm for imploding ideas...... (nothing mentioned EITHER way. I think too much pressure put upon the consumer)... I actually drove the 19 miles in sexy undies under my coat, crapping myself in case I got stopped by a random stop-check Cop.... (was WINTER and bitterly cold, and my hands were so cold that I could not undo my coat.... lol ) I know what flowers my man likes, I know what I call him.... ( I hope to buy some Tiger Lillies... He's my Tiger, and he likes Lillies.) He likes Bournville. He likes his steak med.rare. (we have only been together 3 1/2 years, but I know him so well.
Don't be afraid of giving your man flowers and a lovely meal. MOST would appreciate it....

  • Advance Valentine's day to all - 2013

I suggest for gift for silk flowers. Last Valentine's, I got nice artificial flowers. It really good still i remember my valentine's day. Go ahead for silk flowers.
  • I don't expect a gift from my wife, but have been very happy with a bottle of whisky, a t-shirt or other item of clothing, or even just a book/DVD. Nothing too flashy, just a "standard gift". As some of the ladies have already said, but something that fits his interests or likes. Don't go all out, unless you're rolling in it - keep it simple.
  • Had email with £3 off a 4 feet wide valentines message. Code is bigheart

search for massivemessage. They were recommended in the mailout last valentines :money:
