PC Specialist - any good?

Options
Hey all,

I've seen them mentioned on here a couple of times, and their pre-sales support have been good at answering emails.

Has anyone on here bought a system from them? Any good?

Thanks in advance.

I've had two desktop pcs from them. I gave the first to my daughter when it was four years old and it soldiered on for a further two years before a c.d. drive packed up then soon after the HDD failed.
The second is now two years old, one of their "mini" pcs. Still going strong. There was a problem out of the box with the power l.e.d. not working and a u.s.b. error showing on the screen.
Their tech. support were good, they tried to persuade me to take it apart to check various things re the faults, talked through over the 'phone. I declined, it was brand new and just out of the box.
They picked it up and delivered within a week and it's been faultless since.
I've not looked for a while but their prices were getting a bit less competitive.
Someone posted on MSE about big aftersales problems with the company they'd bought a pc from. It was a while ago though. They didn't name the company but there were clues in the postings as to which it was. Not saying it was PCS, but?
I've found them good personally and would probably use them again.

Have also used them, faultless service and after sales.

Can take a while between ordering and it arriving though.

Yeah that's the one thing I'm worried about. Want to get the Saturday delivery, but would like to know beforehand roughly what Saturday it's going to come. Don't really want to pay extra for the speedy build - I'm not fussed about getting it quicker, just would like to know roughly when it's going to turn up.

I had a bad experience with them unfortunately. Spend about £800 on a new PC built to order. It arrived about a fortnight later and seemed fine but after a couple of months it wouldn't boot. I work in IT so opened the case to check and found the sata connector on the ssd to be broken (the cable had finally fallen off as the clip to secure it was snapped).
PCS refused to replace the drive as I hadn't reported it within the first month. If the case had been damaged I could understand and would have reported it as soon as I received it but I don't think it is reasonable to expect the customer to check inside the case as well. Clearly they had broken it when building or the drive as a dud from the start but they washed their hands of it. I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of taking them to court.

Otherwise the pc has been great, just a shame their after sales let me down.

I too had problems with PC Specialist. Their pre-sales folk are all over you when you contact them. I bought a PC from them, which worked OK - nothing special. I paid them a lot of money for a closely specified machine that arrived with a problem on one part of the configuration. I contacted them about this and without going into detail about all the emails they ignored over the next three weeks they said I had got what I ordered. This was despite my being able to show them proof that they were wrong (I had a copy of the order).

I had a bad experience with PC Specialist and I would not now touch them with a bargepole.

(I also told them that if I did not get satisfaction I would do exactly what I am doing now - telling people how they had treated me but they did not seem too concerned.)

I had no problems with PC Specialist, however the last time I used them was maybe 4 years ago so things might have changed since then. The desktop I specified from them is still working fine after that time.

No personal experience with PCS, although I did consider them a year ago when getting my laptop. In the end I went with Cyber Power Systems.

Having issues with 'Pcspecialists ltd' right now!! I have mailed them 4 times and had 2 auto reply's but that is it! I did have a reply when I approached them on FB but the guy wasnt to happy about contacting them on there!

I can only comment on my issue with them and I will not be using them again and will be posting a warning to all I know.
