Halifax and Lloyds TSB customers have reported that they cannot access their cash from ATMs, online banking and even debit cards not working in shops, on one of the biggest party nights of the year.

After the NatWest debacle earlier in the year, I am surprised that there are still people out there who rely on one single bank / payment instrument.
I am equally, if not more, surprised that at least one major bank still doesn't appear to have their hot stand-by arrangements under control.0 -
I've experienced intermittent problems with the online service, but it has worked after a few tries.
I also successfully made a few faster payments today, but I think that was before the problem started. Other than that, I haven't tried withdrawing any money or using my debit card today.0 -
Online banking hasn't been an issue for me, but I don't use the card to purchase or withdraw cash, so can't comment on that.0

Yea the issue lasted about an hour and a half and is mostly fixed now..
As for the payment showing on the 31st any withdrawal made on a non working day will show as the next working day (ie sat/sun or bank holiday) if you look in the description it will show the actuall day of withdrawal0 -

Whilst I don't rely on a single bank (I've got current accounts with HSBC (main), Lloyds, Halifax, Nationwide and Coop, and savings/mortgages split between these to keep them below the £170k/upper BTL limits), but only had a Lloyds debit and Halifax debit on me at the time. Car said 16 miles to empty (58 miles from my licensing district and 64 miles from home), so tried Lloyds; didn't work. Tried HFX, didn't work, and in the end OH (who I was actually popping over to see/nab £400 of change from, as I'd just dropped someone down the road) came and bailed me out (!).
How very embarrassing that one was, although in fairness, I shouldn't have been running a taxi on account work with that little fuel in the first place!

I had problems withdrawing cash on Sunday, 8 machines were out of order or empty, before finding one that worked, 4 of them were Lloyds TSB/Halifax. Surely banks should have better arrangements to refill machines on one of the busiest weekends of the year?0

I've had problems with online banking with halifax.
I'm not able to view transactions since 24 December 2012 and haven't been able to for 24 hours now!
Other accounts are all viewing fine (and I just transferred a test £1 to check it!)0
