MSE News: Big drop in house asking prices
Comments

"House sellers dropped asking prices by the biggest percentage recorded for August ..."
saw this reported on the beeb this morning, along with the reasoning that buyers were watching the Olympics rather than house-hunting ...hmmmmm0 -
I was house hunting up until the start of the Olympics, and the traffic light re-phasing in SW London made getting to viewings a nightmare. But in all honesty I really doubt that would prevent people from going out and viewing houses.0

The streets were less busy during the Olympics where I am in London. I think people just assumed it would be bad and so went on holiday or whatever.0

Last month they said it was the weather!
Perhaps sellers are anticipating a further fall in house prices and are just trying to get out quickly before they tumble badly.:D0 -
Apparently though rents are SOARING?
And there's a SURGE in supermarket bargains. And it's a BIG drop in house asking prices.
Sounds like an estate agent.0 -
Asking prices fell, much like they do every August.
August 2012 -2.4%
August 2011 -2.1%
August 2010 -1.7%
August 2009 -2.2%
August 2008 -2.3%
But more importantly, still up 2.0% year on year.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”
-- President John F. Kennedy”0
