They aren't really bothered and they are shortly going to bang another 3p/l in duty on it."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

The trouble is that 58 pence of the cost per litre of fuel is duty. This duty is then subject to VAT at 20% which means a total of just about 70 pence of every litre of fuel is tax alone.
The cost is coming down, with it having reduced from £1.469 to £1.349 for diesel in the last couple of months in my area. We should see more cuts as oil is now $30 per barrel cheaper than two months ago."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

o come on trebor16 they are dragging their heals look back to when brent was around $110 a barrel we was in the mid £1.20 for diesel we are below $100 a barrel and we see ourself's in the late £1.30 this is simply not good enough i do value your opinion but i don't agree that accepting the heel dragging is good enough0

The heel dragging is because of the way that oil is purchased. Oil is purchased a couple of months in advance oil purchased at the current price will hit the market in two months. The oil price has declined steadily over the last 2-3 months.
As for the price of diesel, I have just checked the records on my fuelly account and it shows in February 2011 I paid £1.269 for a litre of diesel. By the end of March 2011 it had hit £1.379. It had reached £1.409 by December and it reached a peak of £1.469 in April this year. My local Morrisons is now down to £1.349, a reduction of 12 pence per litre and down to a level I last saw in early March 2011.
Brent Crude prices can be seen here:-

You can see that in January this year it varied between $108 and $113 per barrel. In December 2011 the price was between $103 and $111. The November price was between £108 and $113."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

Funny how the AA warned a few weeks ago that the
price of petrol is going to soar..
Bandwagon much?0 -
the only reason why fuel shot up about 4p/pl a couple of months ago and has dropped back to what it was before then was due to the fact of some idiot telling people to stock up with jerry cans as the tanker drivers might strike now that has gone i.e not going ahead fuel is back to where it was for diesel especially not due to crude price diffrance more greed0

Not so, it went up because the price of oil had gone as high as $126 per barrel. Brent crude was $117 a barrel on the 14th February. It had risen to $125 a barrel by the 27th February and it stayed at a price between $122 and $126 until the 27th March when they started to fall, but still staying above $119 per barrel until the 16th April. It didn't drop below $110 per barrel until the 17th May and dropped below $100 per barrel on the 4th June."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"
