    I found SSE surprising toothless.
They'd go on a lot about customer service, and their people were very polite, they'd pick the phone up quickly, but they were just....meh.
I got an electricity monitor, much flaunted by them, and it didn't really show anything useful. I found the batteries running down every few days, reported it, and was told it was a known fault and they'd send new ones...nothing happened after weeks.
Their web chat stopped working for new iterations of browsers..
They never did anything too bad, they just left me feeling a bit cold about them, to be honest.

you are correct, in that its relativley small to the maount of money they are making - but low punishment is endemic in the courts.

But for a TS prosecution its absolutley massive.

The problem also is that any large fine will get passed to the customer. Ofgem in an attempt to justify themselves & to look good want to change it to ensure they pay the fine from their profits. So, the only difference ism which line in the ledger its shown on...how they think they can make that any different is beyond belief so its just a or exercise and a way to make themselves look like they are protecting the consumer.

The only real penalty is the bad press...but a low prices hook can deal with a lot of that.

Now we just need Eon to stop their doorstep selling. I have had 2 customers in the last couple of weeks that I have had to arrange erroneous transfers back to BG as they were unaware the supply had been taken over. One was asked to sign to say they had been talked to and was one assured it was only a quote. As they were both elderly they got confused.

Ah, one of the oldest tricks in utility sales along with "sign here so we are allowed to give you a ring".

Fair enough, but I don't think BG are perfect...I've had a good few issues with them, both with Gas and Electric, and boiler cover.
