Excellent news.
It was always the case that there was to be a finite sum(that we electricity customers pay) for subsidies and the idiots in the The Friends of the Earth - who went to court to keep the subsidies high - couldn't see that reducing the subsidy would enable more solar electricity to be produced for the same outlay.0 -
Does this mean that the 'Solar Industry' that was going to be decimated by the first round of cuts..............is really really going to suffer a long slow death?0
-
Good that they are being reduced, even if at a fairly slow rate.
Next interesting move will be the Green Deal to be announced this autumn. That may make it possible to buy the panels and have a fairly low finance charge paid from the power bills of the property.
The long term interest is when panels can eventually compete with mains power without a subsidy. The people who will really make lots of money may well be the ones who are patient enough to wait and get a good deal then.0 -
Good
thank to the world market and production ramp , wholesale prices are dropping like a brick - 45% for chinese panels in 1 year alone , amazing stuff; if anyone really belives a 4kw installation still costs more than £10k they need there head testing.0 -
Why should those who can afford £12k to pay for these in the first place - benefit further ?0

This 'solar industry' largely didn't exist 2 years ago. It sprung up almost overnight to cash in on the rich pickings available from the subsidies.
They have made a killing - time to move on!0 -
There is already a thread about the rights and wrongs of Solar PV Feed in Tariffs.

I don't see much point in repeating the same old arguments on this one.0
