Reduction in credit card limit

in Credit cards
I received a text message followed by an email from one of my credit card companies asking me to contact them as my credit limit was being changed. I did so to be told that they had received information from data sources thet I had missed at least two payments to another loan/finance company. I have not missed any payments to anyone but was advised by the credit card company that they used 3 companies for credit information, Experian, Equifax and Call Credit, and gave me the (0844/0870) numbers to contact them. On telephoning on each of the companies, I was advised to either register for my credit report, or seek the postal version upon the payment of £2. Why do I have to pay for what I believe to be someone else's error?

To get the credit report that's how it is.
If you don't want to pay don't get the report.
It's not a public service.0 -
Do you want to solve the problem or not?ericcommon wrote: »I received a text message followed by an email from one of my credit card companies asking me to contact them as my credit limit was being changed. £2 is hardly going to kill you and if there is an error it helps you to get it corrected before it impacts you in other ways.
If it turns out the credit card company have made an error I'm sure you'll be able to submit a complaint that will get it corrected, get your £2 refunded and get you a good £25 plus in compensation.0 -
Halifax made errors on my credit report, they were corrected and I was awared £200
Virgin Mobile made errors on my credit report, they were corrected and I was awared £350 (the error had gone unattended to by Virgin for six months, hence the larger settlement)
£2 to find if you have an error is worth it.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
