Hi, This is my first time i have joined a FORUM....bit lost and need some advice!
I have sent off my booking form to "holidays in the sun", we have decided to go to the isle of wight as none of us drive and the public transport links are very good there.
We have asked for ;
Park resorts Languard.
Nodes point.
Lowe hyde.
whitecliffe.
rookley park.
Does any one know what the accomodation is like in any of these parks and which are the better ones to have. We have ticked box for an upgrade(s).
We def want heating in bedrooms, went to devon in april 2009 and nearly froze to death with no heating!
Many thanks.
Sorry if im on wrong thread?POST!

No help with the parks themselves i'm afraid, but Rookley Park is right in the centre of the island so no good if you want a beach: Whitecliff is right near a beach, but I should imagine public transport is not that good, it's a bit out on a limb: Lower Hyde and Landguard are both near Shanklin, nice town, nice beach, plenty to do and on my favourite side of the island, but a fair distance from the ferry; Nodes is near Ryde, a main town with a nice beach, and probably the easiest for transport.
Hope that's of some help.0 -
Thanks for that. I have worked out bus travel and beach info info, I just wanted to know about the parks themselves ie; accommodation.quality and whats the best ones to stay in.
Thanks.0 -
HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE FORUM

You won't get a choice of the parks on your list, they will just allocate one of the parks. If you want heating in the bedrooms then you will have to upgrade & pay more. It all depends on what you are happy with. Personally I always upgrade to the best accomadation but I am very fussy as to what I am willing to stay in. I've been offered caravans with mould on the walls etc in the past when I have just paid for a basic caravan. We will now only stay in a carvan which has full central heating, double glazing, etc etc but that is personal choice. I found these reviews on trip advisor...... they are mixed reviews which is probably due to the different types of accomadation

Wish I had read some of theses reviews before I booked. I am seriously thinking of not bothering with holiday now. The accommodation sounds/looks dreadful!:(0

We went to to Languard in April. It is about one and a half miles from the beach, via the town. The accommodation was very clean, the main bedroom had an en suite which we didn't upgrade for. I don't recall if there was ch in the bedrooms as it was a very hot week so wouldn't have needed it anyway. We had the indoor swimming pool to ourselves every morning. It was very clean and had an attendant at all times. There were two good, safe outdoor play areas for children, and We didn't take advantage of the entertainment but understand there was a good variety every evening. Trip advisor provides a valuable service but I find it is mainly for criticism, rather than praise. Just my opinion.0

I have to disagree, its not mainly for criticism in the places that I have stayed at. I think if people have a fantastic holiday they want people to know about it. Take a look at these places that we have stayed at, the reviews are GOOD....

Keep everything crossed and hope for the best!! It really is the luck of the draw on Sun holidays. I hope you get a nice caravan and if the weather is nice then that makes all the difference!! Good LuckTo be in your child's memories tomorrow, be in their life today.0 -
I have to say that ukcampsite and holiday watchdog reviews of holiday parks are much more upbeat than trip advisor. I go camping a lot and regularly use ukcampsites for places and reviews so i am feeling a lot more positive about going to the isle of wight. Think also when i find out which park i have been allocated (If i get one for my dates) i will give them a ring to clear any possible concerns i may have before i spend money on train fares and ferries..( in other words make them aware that i won't be fobbed off with manky mouldy accommodation
. )!
I have also noticed that a lot of complaints are during the school holidays when i imagine its overcrowded and understaffed. So maybe things will be better in the quieter months?:D0 -
I'm sure it will be fine, we have had some lovely Sun holidays and we have stayed at one of those parks in the Isle of Wight but I can't remember which one!! School hols can be busy but so are Sun holidays. People moan more in school hols because they have paid a lot more!! I've also read reviews where people moan because the weather was bad etc etc. The isle of wight is a lovely place, you won't be in your caravan very much anyway & if it's dirty you can always clean it, it's really not the end of the world. Just remember that the upgrade which you talk about usually costs more and the basic caravans don't usually have heating in them although you can ( on some parks) hire portable type heaters. To be in your child's memories tomorrow, be in their life today.0
