The increase in train fares and poor service will not encourage people to give up using their cars. I have recently claimed back my fare for a journey delayed by more than 2 hours and often if there is more than one of you it is cheaper to travel by car even if you have to pay for parking on your arrival.0

Beat the train fare rise??
Yet you go on to point out thisWhile we can do nothing about overall prices, there is plenty we can do to buy as cheap a ticket as possible for our chosen journey.
So you're not beating anything are you. Everything else in the article you have already covered in your slightly dubious How to find hidden fares' link on the main page and elsewhere- which it must be noted are not really hiddden at all, people just have to look.
What you shouldve done is told people - especially commuters that the best way for them to beat the rise in rail fares was to buy their season ticket before the end of 2011. But i dont remember you doing so."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0
