Hi
I moved to BG from Ovo, 24 May, 12 weeks ago, The price from BG was the best available but now they're not. If I sign up with E-on now I'm unsure whether I would have to pay the exit fee with only being with BG for such a short period. Does it matter?

Hello,
I was thinking of changing to another supplier, telephoned BG as instructed in the MSE News to avoid exit fees. Had a very nice conversation with a young lady at BG CS who gave me lots of info about leaving before finally asking me if I'd be willing to stay if they gave me £100.00. If I stay with BG for the full year they will credit my account with £100.00 in August next year ..... seems pretty good to me, what do you think?

Hi,
I don't know if anyone can help me, but I am registered as disabled and currently on British Gas' 'Essentials' tariff. (their social tariff) I have had a letter saying their prices are rising (in line with all other tariffs) but as it is already their cheapest tariff I think my only option is to stick with it. Am I thinking correctly? Or is there anything I can do to avoid this rise in price?0 -
Hi If I'm with BG on a standard tariff will I still be subject to penalties if I choose to leave later on? Not been with them very long.

It's very difficult to avoid price rises, you've just got to keep watching what other companies are offering. I would suggest reading through the following link;
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/utilities/you-switch-gas-electricity
and then using one of the price comparison sites, Simplyswitch, Moneysupermarket or Uswitch, to see if there is a cheaper alternative to what you presently have. You need to do this NOW, certainly before the 18 Aug and to inform British Gas that you intend to leave. This way you will be exempt from paying any exit fees, again, providing that you do it before Thursday 18 Aug.

Thanks Freepost
I really do need to do something, I've just had a statement emailed from BG and not only do i owe them £350, but they want £161 per month in future!!
These prices are crazy, we are an average size family of 4 in an average terraced house:(0 -

Methinks those two figures may be connected. How much were you paying before it was put up to £161?I am an employee of British Gas, however the views expressed on this post are mine and do not necessarily reflect the views of Centrica, its subsidiaries or affiliated companies.0
