Ok, im currently in supported housing with action housing after being in prison and being homeless on release. This is only tempory but action housing furnish's the bedsit i rent from them.
I dont have anything of my own at all other than a few items of clothing. And before anyone says get a job, i would very happily take any job, except the rent alone on the current bedsit is around £195 per week which is very hard to afford.
Im currently being offered a housing association flat, however its unfurnished apart from carpets and a cooker , which im very happy about.
I need to know where i could get assisatance from to furnish the flat to a minimum level of a bed, a sofa and fridge freezer, the basics realy but cost alot more than i have to spend.
The flat is i believe from Sancutray Housing and is in South Yorkshire.
Im aware of the Comunity care grant from jobcentre plus, i had applied for funding for furnishing for a flat prior to being released but was refused anything. this was around 7 weeks ago.
Anyone who knows where i might be able to get help with funding, or directly furniture i would much appriciate any help.
Another note, Rotherham council i am aware they can furnish your home with a few main items, however i dont qualify for this as the flat is housing association.
Again, any assistance is much helpfull
Thanks.

You could also try your local freecycle website, its people who are giving things away for free. Or you could put up a wanted post0

As Karenx has already said Freecycle to see if anyone has anything that you need that they want to get rid of. Failing that some charity shops may sell furniture and electrically items that you need and are cheaper than buying new.0

apply for a community care grant0

The standard of goods freely available on freecycle is great. For instance white goods with nowt wrong other than original owner fancied change with new kitchen etc....There are always bed frames and matresses etc going on their. You just need to join and in the first instance offer something to put you on the ladder, that item could be as small as a magazine or book you have finished with, but you do need to offer one item, then you can take up others on their offers.0

We kitted our whole house out with Freecycle!!! We even had a 'project upgrade' which was a bit of fun for us - started with a tiny TV and kept going for the next size up and getting people to come and take away the old ones, until we ended up with our nice 28" one! Nothing spectacular, but more than enough for us

You can find some lovely things on there and all within walking distance

Another thumbs up for Freecycle. I've had and given away some wonderful stuff.
Is there a local charity that could help you? There is one locally that gives people a starter kit when they get a property of basic kitchen essentials etc.
Does your local paper (you can look at it free in the library) have a section of Free to a good home ads?
Good luck.I must go, I have lives to ruin and hearts to break
