Aviva insurance quoted me £10,575 for a Honda Civic!

I phoned up their sales line, gave them the online reference number – and the call assistant sounded shocked as you would expect - with a figure like that popping up on their screen. I then asked if he could do any better than £10575 – as this must be an error. He spoke to his supervisor and came back to say that this is the best they could do! He said we don’t cover people like you. Hello!!!...Excuse me – You must do! Otherwise you would not have provided a quote in the first place.

I am looking to see if this can be re-addressed to something more realistic!!!...I await their response

Accept they don't want you and move on!

Do some searching on their service (here and on the net), and you'll see you had a lucky escape!

Some insurance companies dont like to say no. The prefer to let the the silly prices go out instead. Aviva are one that tends to let silly prices go out rather than have their system refuse cover once the price gets above a certain amount.

There are a number of areas in financial services where costs/fees etc are there to act as a passive blocker to doing business. Best thing to do is realise its only a big spreadsheet at their end and if you happen to hit a number of high risk areas then the spreadsheet will output a big figure. Don't take it any more personal than those that have refused to give you a price. If they had, theirs would be similar.

When Norwich and Aviva merged, I had insurance with Norwich at the time. Renewal through Aviva started quoting thousands more suddenly- they seem to have pulled out of NI. Very few insurance companies have ever said no to me, they normally settle for quoting silly prices.

Makes sense, They consider you high risk but they gamble you wont claim more than
    your premium back.
