Somewhere to stay between Chichester and Luton

I am looking for inspiration, we are hoping to go to Goodwood Revival in September, flying into Luton, we already have a cheap Travelodge booked in Bournemouth for the Thursday night before we found out that Ryanscare don't fly into Bournemouth any more. Last year the weather was hot and sunny and we just spent the Saturday lying on the beach (sheer bliss with no kids). The flight home on the Sunday is at 11.45 a.m. and it might be a bit of a rush getting to Luton on time, so I am hoping someone can give me ideas of somewhere between Chichester and Luton, that we can have a chilled day on the Saturday.
Sorry if this is long winded

Have you booked your flights? If not have you looked at Flybe to Southampton from various Scottish airports?
We used them Liverpool-Southampton before they stopped that service.

Thanks, I have used Flybe before, there cheapest flight is about £60 p.p. booking 3 months in advance, but they are quoting £228 . Easyjet is £80 for the two of us, quite a difference!
