how to make a claim for repairs via your credit card company?

got a new bathroom fitted by Frog in Glasgow. few things need fixed / sorted and we have a year's guarantee but first things were reported in oct 2011, now its march 2012 and we are no further forward. one issue is now a stalemate, regtangular tap is squint (happened very soon after install) we say they didn't fit it properly, they say we must have overturned it. can't prove either way and 6 mths later they now say they will only sort if it can be proved the tap itself is faulty. other problems are less of a stalemate (ie more obvious due to workmanship) but still getting nowhere. what happens and how to we go about claiming via our credit card company? can it end up costing us with things like the tap which is a stalemate?

Your credit card provider, assuming thats how you paid, has the same liability as the service provider.

Whilst you may find that your bank rolls over easier than the plumbing company in many cases they fight just as hard and require a higher burden of proof. Where section 75 really comes into its own is where the supplier no longer exists and so there is only the option of the credit company.

See http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/section75-protect-your-purchases for how to initiate the claim

we ended up paying £180 to someone else for repairs, figured it was not worth the hassle of taking frog bathrooms to court, though thats probably how they can get away with this sort of thing, people not taking them on cos its too much hassle. now just hoping the repairs last and if not, that the guarantee this time will be held up. so lesson learned - never ever use frog bathrooms again and check out reviews before commiting this much money again, and if there are no reviews except "testimonials" on the companies own website, go somewhere else!
