Co-Op Bank How long to open an account!!!!

I posted a week ago about my daughter applying for a current account with the Co-op. Just their normal account, it got referred and was told she'd hear in 48 hours.
No word, she rang today armchair banking couldn't throw any light on the decision, so she rang applications.

The advisor apologised and said it should have left the underwriter's? Then said she is to take in 1 item of ID such as a passport into the nearest branch.

The branch should then contact ''Personal Lending'' so do you think she has been accepted subjected to taking in the ID?

No idea, sorry but that does sound REALLY complicated to open a bank account.

Most branches should be able to open an account on the same day.

    Good luck :-)

How did she apply? Normally there are a lot of factors to take into consideration with the Co-op - the main one being whether they're on the electoral roll/credit search or not. If its their first bank account or form of credit, then they will normally need to see at least one proof if ID and one proof of address. There's also a fraud check which they do (there can be fraud even on the basic accounts they offer) which takes 1-2 days on average.

Well update is, my daughter has cancelled the application!
Rang again, they wouldn't put her through to their personal lending dept.

They have now said the delay is Experian, they have not sent them a reply???? So she's told them to stick it.

Also, she was told being asked to take in documents to the branch doesn't mean anything.

After subscribing to Credit Expert on 30 day trial, the co op have made a credit check on the 27th July and 2 other unclassified checks the following day!

She has clear credit files so will look for another account, on this occasion this bank have been awful.
