Travel Insurance - Family/Group

I hope someone can advise a newbie.
I have booked a late deal holiday to Tenerife in July for myself, my wife, my 16 year old son (who lives with my-ex), and his mate.
Looking at insurance quotes using moneysupermarket.com I get a cheapest quote of £52 if booking as a group, and from £11 upwards if booked as a family. Obviously I would like to go down the family route, but knowing that insurance companies look at any means possible of denying claims, would I be risking not being paid out in the event of a claim, due to having a non-family member on the policy?

I would think so, yes.
I would think the most sensible option would be to book insurance for your own family and ask your son's friend's family to arrange insurance for him separately.0 -
Thanks for the reply incapuppy.
I have trawled a few more websites and found a company that allowed you to distinguish between dependent and non-dependent children on the quote.
I rang them to check if I could put my son's friend on the policy, and was told that as long as it was a single trip policy, and not an annual policy, I could put him on family insurance.
I took the woman's name as a reference (just to be safe), although hopefully it won't be needed.0
