I've just discovered Miro (formerly Democracy Player) there's thousands of channels to choose from all free. There's no additional hardware needed and it's available for both Windows and Linux. You need a decent broadband connection to take full advantage of this. Tip: During set-up the application will ask if you want to start Miro at computer start-up, I suggest you choose No otherwise your connection will be slow for web browsing. You can create you own channel by Making Internet TV yourself.

! It's for video RSS feeds, podcasts and video blogs.
It's own description reads: "Download Miro to watch free internet video channels and play any video file."0 -
It's also available for Mac, incase anyone is interested.0

Hi Mercenary, I'm sorry you're disappointed. I'm enjoying the many interesting channels on this new player. There's many different categories, for example:
* Movies & TV 804 Channels
* Comedy 621 Channels
* Technology 616 Channels
* Arts 613 Channels
* Music 525 Channels
* News 495 Channels
* Education 475 Channels
* Video Blogs 433 Channels
* Sports 369 Channels
* Politics 282 Channels
* International 241 Channels
* Travel 185 Channels
* Business 152 Channels
* Activism 146 Channels
* Science 138 Channels
* Religion & Spirituality 134 Channels
* Animation 134 Channels
* Food 124 Channels
* Family 123 Channels
* Public Broadcasting 118 Channels
* Environment 118 Channels
* Video Games 96 Channels
* Health 86 Channels
* Mac 56 Channels
* Animals 49 Channels
* Government 49 Channels
* Transportation 48 Channels
* Kids 44 Channels
* Sexuality 28 Channels
You can subscribe to one channel or just download the particular programme that interests you within a channel. I've seen videos and documentaries that I know I would never see on mainstream TV. Miro also has a lovely interface, very easy to use and attractive, makes the whole thing so simple.0
