New Washing Machine

I need to buy a new washing machine but obviously don't want to spend the earth. Can anyone recommend a good one and where is the best place to shop for one?

UK Whitegoods forum contains a list of recommended machines somewhere. We bought a graded Neff on their advice (they also recommended Bosch) and it's fantastic.
Our last machine, which we also loved, was a Whirlpool machine from Comet Clearance. It's where Comet sell off all of their customer returns and display machines. We got a real bargain and the only fault was a tiny mark on the front. However, now we don't have a utility room I sold it on eBay and bought a fully integrated machine (also graded). My mum liked our old machine so much that she bought an identical one, unfortunately at full price.
If you don't want to buy online then lots of places sell graded machines. Whereabouts are you in the UK?0 -
I'm in Kent. I like to see what I'm buying but if it's a real bargain I'd do online.0

The Appliance Warehouse say that they do graded appliance and are in Kent. You're more likely to find adverts for other places in your local Yellow Pages or newspaper.
I decided the machine I wanted and then found out where I could get it cheapest. I spent hours looking at brochures on the web as I wanted to get the right machine. In the end I had to trade between being integrated and having a digital display that told me how long until it finished.0 -
To confirm the web sites I am referring to are the following:
http://www.theappliancewarehouse.co.uk
http://www.taw-sales.co.uk/
They are the same company.
I was after a particular model of washing machine and Zanussi put me in touch with this company who had a similar model. The sales rep advised that they had two in stock with one that had a slight dent on the side but both were new and we could get either one. The delivery would also be free. It was a good price so I ordered it.
When it arrived it was rapped in bubble rap and had dents and scratches all over it. It was a graded product. Looked like it had been either sitting on the shop floor for a while or in use in some ones house for a year. Clearly I wasn’t happy. When I called them they advised that it was sold as a graded machine and if we weren’t happy with it we should not have signed for it. They advised that to return the item it would cost £90 pickup costs. The line manager for the sales rep was also unhelpful and they would not pickup the item for free.
The item was mis-sold and because it was over the phone with nothing in writing I didn’t have a case to take it further.
On another review site they added a post posing as the site administrator accusing me of working for a competitor to discredit my review. Googling for the applianceware house review will bring up that post in the 1st\2nd item. Very dodgy company.

I've actually used the appliance warehouse on a couple of occasions now, once last year and again a few months ago. Both times I've found them really helpful :rolleyes:0
