Details here. Sheffield/Derby/Nottingham/Leicester -> London
A very welcome change to the way one buys tickets. Midland Mainline have virtually done away with return tickets all together, and now offer a mix and match approach to journeys, whereby you buy singles. Eg if you want to go to London from Sheffield, but return to Nottingham you can now do so. Book on off peak trains for the real bargains - you can even get first class seats for a tenner each way if the wind is blowing in the right direction..
I'm going to a gig in London on 3 November, with an overnight stay. Booked on a late afternoon train down - cost £6 (less 10% discount = £5.40), returning before lunch the following day - cost £6 (less 10% discount = £5.40).
Coupled with the Travelodge £26 offer, am getting to London and back, with an overnight stay (in a double room) for just under £37. If only the ticket to the gig was as cheap
Very flexible ticketing - I hope other companies follow suit with this idea :j

An offer I use regularly (especially London) is with Days Inn. Book with them, find the hotel cheaper elsewhere (obviously make sure before you book) and they give you one night free. Fantastic for overnight stays. Were there in October courtesy of Days Inn Westminster. Check it out here: https://www.daysinn.co.uk
