Cheap silicone sealant and Not towelling off excess water after showering.

    2 common causes.

dettox mould and mildew remover. works miracles

smells awful and gives you a really bad headache, but spray on and shower off [after a couple of mins i think] no scrubbing

It does sound like cheap silicon as said, the best stuff should last years and doesnt cost all that much more than the cheap stuff, around £4-£6 per tube compared with the cheap silicon £3. I have had my silicon for 10 years and is only recently going mouldy, dettox does the trick.
  • I got some mould killer from B&Q which was really good and strong, take your old sealent off use the killer (will also get rid of the little bits of sealent left) wipe it and leave it to dry before putting some new anti-mould sealent down.
2p off is still 2p off!
  • The long term answer is also to air your bathroom regularl especially if you do not have an extractor fan. Nothing better than letting the steam out by opening the window whilst you dry yourself. Envigorating and anti-mildew.
  • Roll some kitchen towel or toilet paper into strips place around silicon soak with bleach leave for about 10mins then remove and rinse with cod water worked for me
